The inaugural Kids Adventure Outdoors (KAOS) was held at the YMCA Anglesea Recreation camp on the weekend of 11-12 April 2015 and it was a blast with kids of varying ages enjoying the opportunity to explore, climb, sail, paddle, ride and run in the great outdoors that the Anglesea landscape has to offer. The weekend brought new skills like learning to hook a fish and wonderful experiences like flying through the air on the Giant Swing.
Parents relished in the opportunity to watch their children try new things, grow and play; all while enjoying time outdoors together.
David Petherick, CEO of the Australian Camps Association, notes “We (the camps & outdoor industry) have known the benefits of outdoor time for children for many years and we’re pleased to be able to provide an opportunity for families to get some adventure”. He adds “A number of parents have contacted us post event stating ‘they never would have thought their child would have taken to these activities so quickly’, it’s great we’ve been able to provide an avenue for children to try new things”.

Future KAOS events are ‘on the table’ and communications will be sent out informing everyone of upcoming events.
