My recent trip across two states (ACT & NSW) is part of a concerted effort by the Australian Camps Association to have notable presence in all states of Australia. For the foreseeable future you can expect to see more of us popping into touch base with our existing members and seeing potential new members as we continue to grow our membership base. My journey covered 650 km’s in 48 hours during which I visited three existing members and two potential new members. Let’s just say I had very early starts and late finishes!
First stop on the express visits list was long time Outdoor Activity Provider and ACA member, Outward Bound Australia (OBA) at Tharwa, ACT. In operation in Australia for 60 years with its foundations (1947) in the United Kingdom, they have been running expedition-style programs for youth since its beginnings. A mere 250,000 teenagers going through OBA programs. OBA has and still provides opportunities for all Australians to build self-confidence, self-awareness and resilience by using the outdoors as a classroom. It was great to meet several of the senior operations personnel and learn of the continued passion for OBA programs and its invigorated marketing plans for the future. It is worth checking out the Outward Boutnd Australia website to see the breadth of what they offer.
