…Pushing on immediately after my fleeting visit, I moved north to the Blue Mountains to Katoomba to visit KCC Conference Centre. This mammoth camp, which is set on only 13 hectares, has accommodation and function rooms that appeared to nearly occupy the entire site.
Immediately opposite the camp is the Blue Mountains Scenic Railway, which puts the camp adjacent to the National Park. They are certainly surrounded by some of the best bushwalking tracks and lookouts in the state of NSW. Not to mention the famous Three Sisters, Giant Staircase and Echo Point all within spitting distance.
The camp is 340 beds in total set over five lodges that sleep a minimum of 15 or maximum of 221. They offer all levels of group accommodation with either catered or self-catered camps. Several modern conference facilities with multiple meeting rooms that all have exceptionally private quite surrounds, however the one that completely blew me away was what lay behind a large building with several double doors – a whopping 2300 seat auditorium. It certainly floored me. Concerts and festivals are popular here as the 13 hectares also offers camping with facilities as well.
There are a few activities on-site, such as archery and low ropes however, activities are mainly in the surrounding National Park and include such things as abseiling and rainforest walks. I was so impressed with the whole offering. Everything looked sharp, well organised, maintained and professional.
