John is the director of Edmund Park Adventure Education in Queensland, and is currently the Past President of the Australian Camps Association.
Edmund Park is one of the largest school camp and outdoor activity providers in Queensland, catering for over 220 different year levels of many schools from the South East Queensland corner. EPAE employs 26 fulltime staff, 16 of whom are employed fulltime as outdoor education instructors. John lead EPAE to become the first Queensland organisation to gain ACA accreditation in July 2000.
John was a committee member of the Queensland Camping Assn, was involved in the formation of the Australian Camping Assn, and has been a board member of the Australian Camps Assn. for many years, the last 3 as President. In 2008, along with 7 other Australian Camp operators, John toured Canadian camps and attended the International Camping Federation congress in Quebec City, as well as becoming a lead trainer of the International Camp Directors Course.
Prior to commencing at Edmund Park in 1995, John had a long career in the advertising industry, having worked at various News Ltd newspaper, as well as managing the Queensland Government Press Non Campaign advertising account for Neville Jeffress Advertising in the early 1990's. John has been a professional musician, and is currently enjoying playing part-time, having been a bass player in rock and blues bands for many years.
